Heat shock at 42ºC for 20 seconds results in the highest transformation efficiency for NEBExpress competent E.coli (NEB #C2523H and NEB #C2523I). Expect approximately 50% loss in transformation efficiency when heat shocking for 80 seconds (see Figure on the main product page).
